EYFS Reception Vision 

At our school, we believe that every child deserves the very best start to their educational journey. Our Reception classes provide a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment where children feel valued, respected and inspired to learn.

Our intent is to develop confident, curious and independent learners through a broad, balanced and engaging Early Years curriculum. We recognise that every child is unique and learns through meaningful experiences, play, exploration and positive relationships. We carefully plan opportunities that build upon children's interests, prior knowledge and individual needs, enabling them to make excellent progress from their starting points.

Through high-quality interactions and purposeful learning experiences, we foster a love of learning while developing the key skills, knowledge and characteristics needed for future success. We promote communication and language, personal, social and emotional development, physical development, early literacy and mathematics, alongside creativity, problem-solving and critical thinking.

We work in partnership with families to ensure children feel happy, secure and supported throughout their Reception year. By encouraging resilience, independence, kindness and respect, we aim to develop well-rounded individuals who are ready for the challenges and opportunities of Key Stage 1 and beyond.

Our EYFS Team

Our dedicated EYFS team brings a wealth of knowledge, expertise and passion to the Reception classroom. With over 30 years of combined experience in Early Years education, our staff are committed to providing the highest quality care and learning opportunities for every child.

Drawing upon extensive experience and a deep understanding of child development, the team works together to create a nurturing, stimulating and inclusive environment where children feel happy, safe and valued. We are passionate about fostering curiosity, independence and a love of learning, ensuring that every child is supported and challenged to reach their full potential.

Through strong partnerships with families and positive relationships with children, our experienced team provides the encouragement, guidance and care needed for children to flourish throughout their Reception year and beyond.

Our Curriculum

Our EYFS curriculum is carefully designed around the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Statutory Framework and is enriched through our topic-led Shine Curriculum. By combining the requirements of the EYFS with engaging and meaningful themes, we create exciting learning opportunities that inspire curiosity, creativity and a love of learning.

Through purposeful play, exploration and high-quality teaching, children develop the knowledge, skills and understanding needed to succeed both in Reception and as they move into Key Stage 1. Our curriculum builds strong foundations in communication and language, literacy, mathematics and personal development, while encouraging children to become confident, independent and enthusiastic learners.
