Design and Technology

Our Vision for Design and Technology

D&T is a curriculum subject that teaches children about the design of a range of objects, how certain working parts are made and how to join, fix and use materials effectively. Children learn to assemble, disassemble, plan, construct and evaluate.

As All Saints pupils make the transition to secondary school, we want them to feel confident in their skills relating to designing, making and evaluating products. Children will leave with the skills of being resourceful and innovative, enterprising and imaginative. Through unique and exciting opportunities, they will have the confidence to take risks in order to solve real life problems.

Our DT Subject Leaders

Mrs Corrinne White and Mrs Abby Ridgewell are the Design and Technology (DT) Subject Leaders at All Saints’ Primary School and are committed to promoting high-quality DT teaching and learning across the school. They ensure that the DT curriculum is creative, engaging, and purposeful, providing pupils with opportunities to develop practical skills, problem-solving abilities, and innovative thinking through a range of inspiring design projects. Mrs White and Mrs Ridgewell are passionate about Design and Technology because they believe it empowers children to become confident creators, critical thinkers, and resilient learners who can apply their knowledge to real-life situations. They recognise that DT encourages creativity, collaboration, and perseverance while helping pupils understand how design and technology shape the world around them. Their dedication to DT reflects their commitment to equipping pupils with the skills, confidence, and curiosity needed to become the designers, engineers, and innovators of the future.
