Miss Gibson is the Writing Subject Leader and is passionate about developing confident, enthusiastic writers. She believes that reading is at the heart of successful writing, providing pupils with rich vocabulary, inspiring ideas and an understanding of how authors engage their readers. She is a strong advocate of a topic-based approach to the teaching of writing, with writing embedded throughout the school's Shine Curriculum. This ensures that pupils write for real purposes and make meaningful links across the curriculum. Whether explaining scientific concepts, recounting historical events or creating imaginative narratives, children apply their knowledge in engaging contexts. These cross-curricular opportunities inspire pupils, increase motivation and consistently lead to high-quality outcomes. Miss Gibson's vision is for every child to leave the school as a capable, resilient writer with the confidence to communicate effectively for a range of audiences and purposes. By nurturing a love of reading and writing, pupils are well prepared for the next stage of their education and their future lives.
